How many apartments do you have?

What types of apartments do you have?

Most Abbington communities offer studios, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments. Check each community or call one of the Abbington communities directly.

What is Memory Care?

Memory care is specialized care for those dealing with dementia and Alzheimer’s diseases. The services are provided in a secured environment that provides for the safety of the residents.

What services do you offer?

We offer Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care. 

What amenities do you offer?

Although it varies, many of our communities offer the following amenities:
a. Full service salon
b. Centralized dining room
c. Wi-Fi Internet throughout the building
d. Large gathering rooms for activities and meetings
e. Library
f. Fitness and physical therapy
g. Restaurant style dining

Is Transportation offered?

Yes, our residents can schedule transportation for doctor’s appointments and other transportation needs (additional fees may apply).

Do you offer restaurant style dining?

Residents are able to choose from many choices at each meal. Tell our chef what you want and they will do their best to provide it for you or possibly add it to our menu for a later date.

How do I know if memory care is needed?

If you notice that your loved one is wandering or behaving different than normal, it might be beneficial to speak to a team member about memory care options for your loved one. Please seek more information from one of the Abbington communities.

How is level of care determined?

Before you move-in, our nurse and other team members will assess your medical history and your current situation to determine how we can best meet your needs. With your help, they will develop a service plan that will be created to meet you individual needs. The care plan will be updated regularly to help us serve you best.

Do you have an in house doctor?

We do not have in-house doctors although we do have several doctors that we work with to help provide you with the best care and attention. They make regular visits to the community and would be available to help you as well. You may also use your own doctor if you would like to keep the one that you have. We can assist you with scheduled transportation to visit a doctor (some additional fees may apply).

What training is provided to team members?

At the beginning of each team member’s employment, they are entered in Abbington University. Here they will receive all necessary orientation and training to begin their service to our residents. They will continue to receive ongoing training at least monthly throughout their employment with Abbington. We value our employees and work to help them know and understand how best they can serve our residents.

Is the Abbington nurse 24/7?

We have a full-time RN on staff and a nurse on call 24-hours a day.

How much does it cost?

The cost for senior living varies by the need of each resident and the service plan developed to help meet those needs. Please click here to see the financial options page for more information. Our marketing directors are ready to help assist you with any questions you might have in regards to payment options.

What is included in the cost?

The cost of senior living includes the base rent, level of care fees, and additional fees.

What is the base fee?

Base fee is determined by the room type that a resident chooses. At most communities you can select studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom apartments.

What is the level of care fee?

The level of care fee is based on individualized service plan for each resident. Generally the more time spent by our team members increases the amount of the level of care and the fee associated with that level of care.

Are there other additional costs?

There are additional fees for telephone, tray service, hair salon, some activities, guest meals, and other items. Please ask our team members to discuss specific pricing associated with your specific needs.

How do I select the right community?

What is assisted living?

Assisted living is for seniors who need some help with activities of everyday life. These activities of daily living might include bathing, dressing, medications, and eating meals. The specific needs of each resident are included in their individualized service plan.

What is respite care?

Respite care is for those that need temporary help with care needs. Generally this is for 14 days or less. Please inquire with one of our team members for more information.

What activities are included on the typical activity calendar?

Our activity program varies from community to community because it is based on the needs and desires of our residents. Some favorite activities that our residents have enjoyed include fitness classes, walking clubs, book clubs, plays at the local theatre, computer classes, genealogy classes, lunch at local restaurants, scenic tours to see the fall leaves or other sites of interest, performances by local entertainers, and much, much more. Our programs are designed to the interests of the residents and our hope is to engage, have fun, and continue to find the joy in living.

What is different about the memory care activities?

Our residents with memory care needs are involved in many of the same types of activities along with specialized activities that meet their specific needs. See the calendar at of our communities for more information.

How many meals are provided in the base rent?

Abbington services three carefully planned, delicious meals per day.

Do you allow pets?

Yes, please see the specific community for details.

Will I need to move again?

Although Abbington strives to help all of its residents remain in the apartment as long as they would like, it does become necessary at times for residents to move for various reasons.

Can my loved, who is on hospice, live in assisted living?

Yes, residents living at our community who need to receive hospice care can usually remain at the community.

How long is the commitment?

Each resident signs a month-to-month residency agreement.

What is the move-in process?

Once you have made the decision to move into an Abbington community, there will be some paperwork required, assessments by our nurse, and some other information prior to move in. All of this is important for us to provide our residents with the best care possible from the moment they arrive in their new home.

Does the community provide furniture?

Normally the residents bring their own furniture to make their apartment feel like their own home. If residents would like help furnishing their apartment, Abbington can provide someone to help with this for an additional fee.
